Diggers Drive Pedestrian/Bikeway Upgrade at Kalinga Park (Stage 03: Completed November 2015)

Stage 3 of the Diggers Drive project upgraded the Diggers Drive bridge to improve safety and connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists accessing the local bikeway network and amenities, including sports facilities at Shaw and Mercer Parks.

The project involved:

  • constructing a new 5.5-metre-wide, 22-metre-long shared pedestrian and cyclist bridge, adjacent to the current bridge at Shaw Park
  • constructing a 90-metre-long, five-metre-wide shared path from the existing path near Carew Street that will connect to the new bridge
  • constructing 80 metres of shared pathway in Shaw Park adjacent to the new bridge
  • installing lighting
  • piling works to support the new bridge structure
  • line marking.
